Scenario 1

Premier 50 Over Match, Riccarton v LPW

Match starts on time at 10.30am. 

Riccarton play their innings uninterrupted and to time and score 238/7 off their 50 overs

After lunch, LPW come out to bat at 2:25. 

After 65 minutes and 17 overs, players leave the field due to rain at 3:30 with the score 78/2.

After 2 hrs the umpires determine that play can restart at in 15 minutes. 

How many overs will LPW face and what is the target score?

Scenario 2 (continues from Scenario 1)

After a further hour and another 16 overs (Total 33 overs), the rains come down again, this time with LPW at 147/6.  It is soon decided that no further play is possible and you are required declare the result of the match.  What is the result?

Scenario 3

Senior A 45 Over Match, Sumner v Merivale Papanui

Match starts on time at 12.00pm. 

Sumner play their innings uninterrupted and to time and score 214 all out off 43.4 overs

After tea, Merivale Papanui come out to bat at 3:30pm. 

After 1 hour 15 minutes and 20 overs, players leave the field due to rain at 4:45 with the score 91/1.

After 1hr 45mins the umpires determine that play can restart at in 15 minutes. 

How many overs will Merivale Papanui face and what is the target score?

Scenario 4

a.    Your premier match between Sydenham and Easy Shirley dawns wet.  Eventually at 1.30pm it clears, and at 2:00 you are able to toss, with the game starting at 2:30pm.  How many overs are there for each side if you allow 15 minutes for change of innings?  What are the power plays? Bowling limits?

b.    Sydenham win the toss and decide to field with more rain likely.  Easy Shirley get off to a fast start, and are 82/1 after 12.3 overs when rain forces the players from the field at 3:15pm.  After 30 minutes decide you can restart play at 3:45pm.  How many overs are left for Sydenham?

c.     Easy Shirley throw the bat and finish at 230/4.  What is the target for LPW?

d.    After 20.3 overs and 1hr 15 minutes the heavens again open up and saturate the ground removing any chance for further play.   With Sydenham on 122/3. What is the result?

e.    If Sydenham had been on 182/7 at the same stage, what would the result have been?

Scenario 5

a.  Your Senior A match between Sumner and LPW starts on time under cloudy skys.  LPW win the toss but struggle with the bat, eventually being skittled for just 72 runs after 34.2 overs at 2pm.  During the tea break it starts to rain, just as it starts to rain.  At 4.15pm you determine that play will be possible again at 4.45pm.  How many overs and what is the target for Sumner?  How many overs can the bowlers bowl?  What are the powerplays?

b.  Sumner get away quickly, and have made it to 51/0 after 12 overs at 5:40 when again it pours with rain.  Eventually conditions improve You are finally determine you can start again at 6:45.  What is the new target for Sumner?

c.   What would be the target if play could not be restarted till 7:10?
